Description

:new:EDIT/NOTE: XAVIER IS NOT A SHINY.  He's a normal blue, its just the overlay that may be throwing people off.  He has the colors of a normal vaporeon.  Edward is a shiny.  If he was a shiny, I would have it written on his app.
Just for future reference~

EDIT: Changed app art, new faction and new job! :,D

:iconcircus-darkrai:

"Well, all the world's a stage, and someone has to be on that stage, right?"

Name:
  Xavier Doolittle

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Pokémon: Vaporeon

Birthday: December 29th

Nature: Impish

Characteristic: Impetuous and Silly

Ability: Water Absorb

Job: Big-Top Magician- After the last magician went crazy and ran off, Xavier, who previously did small children’s magician shows in the Lune faction, was asked to move to Etoile to replace him.  The vaporeon now has his own act, where he performs feats of traditional, good-old fashioned “magic” (sleight of hand and magician tricks of the trade) in front of huge audiences.  His drawing points are his friendly banter with the audience, as well as being able to pull off tricks such as disappearing boxes and levitating people with ease (he has been doing it for over fifty years, after all).  His assistant is his girlfriend, Octavia.

Faction: Etoile

Wish:

”I wish everything would go back to the way it used to be."

Just suffering from the withdrawal of not being able to see his beloved younger brother and sister was enough to make Xavier desperate enough to take a shady offer given to him by a mysterious darkrai.  He wanted things to be normal...well, as normal as they used to be.  Even if he had to live with his father's alcoholic rants, and his mother's pushover nature, his family would finally be together and his siblings could have a well-adjusted childhood, which, really, was all that mattered to Xavier at the moment.

However, the past cannot be changed, or the future altered, not without consequence.  After his wish, Xavier returned home and peeked in the window to find, to his unending and overwhelming joy, his family back together.  His siblings playing make-believe games, his father reading his newspaper, his mother cooking dinner-just the way things always had been.

But when Xavier knocked on the door excitedly, bursting with joy and anticipation who came to answer it was...himself.

Darkrai had kept his promise, he had made things go back to the way they used to be, even better in fact.  The thing was that in that new life Xavier had been replaced, with an exact replica of himself.  It was his worst nightmare-Xavier finally got the reality his wanted for his family, but lost himself in the process.  Things were the way they used to be, but he could only watch on the sidelines as it was lived out by a stranger, rather than himself.

It was as if Xavier had died and, truthfully, he sort of did.  Seeing no other option, and not bearing to be a burden on his family any longer, agreed to join Darkrai's circus, on the condition that he wouldn't lay a finger on both his family and his duplicate for the rest of their lives.

Personality:

Positives

+Charismatic-Unlike his roommate Edward, who being charming came with his wish, Xavier is just naturally likeable.  No matter what intentional or unintentional rude or sly remark he may utter, he just says in such a playful manner that anyone is convinced.  This is one of the reason why he works so well with children, knowing the exact way to act or say to win them over.

+Flexible- Xavier is a very “go with the flow” kind of person.  Bad day?  Xavier doesn’t really care.  Disagreement?  Xavier will probably agree for the sake of agreeing.  The vaporeon doesn't like confrontation and many times will act as the peacekeeper, always maintaining his “glass half full” persona.

+Kind- Xavier may do bad things or break the law a few times, but it's always unintentional or unknowingly.  He is a pure, kind person at heart, and hate to see people mad, and will try to soothe things over to heal their pain.  Like Edward his conscience gets the best of him, and he will rarely do things out of spite or pure malice, unless someone he loves is involved.

Negatives

-Rash-Xavier has a tendency to quickly jump to conclusions, without asking questions or inquiring about all sides of the story.  If he sees something he will blurt out his thought, then immediately go off to try and follow up on it before someone else can get another word in otherwise.

-Reckless-Xavier loves living in the moment, and loves to party and be in the spotlight.   An explanation for this is the fact that he making the most out of the second life he was given, however at times Xavier can become too foolhardy, ending up in physical or emotional pain.  He has gotten a lot better at this though and is trying to be more careful with his choices, thinking second thoughts before diving into things, but it's still a problem.

-Clingy-Xavier has a habit of being close to people in general, but if you are friends with him or have some sentimental value to the vaporeon, he will stick to you like glue, to the point of annoyance.  And arceus forbid he actually has a crush on you, he's going to be all over you 24/7.

Netural

~Attractive- Xavier is good-looking in the general sense of the word, with a nice body and fashion sense, even if he’s kind of ignorant to it most of the time.  Combined with his charisma it makes for a deadly combination, as he can frequently get his way with just a few words and a grin.  However, this can very easily also be a negative, as due to this he’s taken advantage of a lot or put into awkward situations, as while he may come off as a flirt or a playboy at first, he really is just an idiot who has no idea what he’s doing.

~Loyal-Xavier closely resembles that of a lillipup.  Naiive and quick to the chase he will remain eternally loyal to his friends, even if they may abuse him or use him for their own gain.  He has a habit of being easily swayed, and will frequently side with the wrong party unknowingly.  The only time he is less than loyal is in relationships, he has a habit of dismissing most girls he dates as "brief flings" or temporary (even if the girls may feel otherwise) and tends to flirt with other girls behind their back.

However, to his friends and the one person he truly does love, his undying support is unwavering.

History:

Xavier Doolittle was born into a relatively poor family.  In order to make amends for the eevee and his two younger siblings, both of his parents worked in the factory.  Because of this, Xavier acted as the caretaker to his two younger siblings, Lucy and George.  Despite their poor family life, Xavier tried to make his beloved siblings’ childhood as normal as possible.

However, you can only ignore reality for too long.  One minute Xavier was sleeping in his bed, the next he woke up to find his mother sobbing violently on the floor, clutching one of Lucy’s plushie teddiursas to her chest.  Apparently in the night Xavier’s father, probably in a drunken fit, had suddenly decided to take Lucy and George and run away, leaving him and his mother to pick up the pieces.

They tried tirelessly to track him down but Xavier’s father had vanished, taking the only two bright lights of sunshine in the eevee’s dreary life along with him.

The next couple of years Xavier and his mother tried to cope.  Xavier, being old enough, took up a job at the factory too to make funds, and even got a few side jobs in hopes of getting extra income.  He spent his free time playing with the younger children around the apartment complex, participating in their make-believe games and putting on impromptu magic shows for their amusement.  But no matter how much he tried to forget it, he still always had the looming dread, the ever-present fear of where Lucy and George were.  It got to the point where the eevee would have elaborate nightmares of them brutally dying, or other horrible things happening to them.  He found himself missing Lucy’s chipper, curious questions, George’s sense of excitement and adventure, the happy and satisfying thought of him and his family sitting down at their makeshift dinner table a the end of a long day.

He wanted things to go back to the way they were.  He wanted his siblings back.  He wanted his family back.  He wanted his life back.

It was just his luck that a circus had decided to come into town that day.  The children begged Xavier to take them, and the eevee agreed, ditching work and promising to sneak them in among the hustle and bustle.

They all snuck into the circus grounds, Xavier ushering all the children underneath the circus tarp.  However, what the eevee hadn't counted on was himself being caught.

“Good afternoon sir.”  Xavier turned around and gasped, to see a tall (and rather annoyed) darkrai staring back at him.  "I hope you know that I don’t take very kindly to freeloaders, this circus doesn’t run on pure stamina and ambition alone.”  Xavier felt himself growing clammy.

“I’m sorry sir!  Its just...these poor children have never been to a circus before and they...really wanted to go.”  He motioned to the children, who a couple of them were peeking underneath the tarp, waiting for him.  Darkrai raised an eyebrow.

“Are they your siblings?”  Xavier paused.

“No, no sir.  My siblings...were abducted.  I-I don’t know where they are.”  Xavier, feeling strangely at ease in the man's presence, felt tears gathering at his eyes, making him quickly look down in embrassement.  "I...I just want my family to be reunited again...I want everything to be normal again..."  With those words a strange look came over Darkrai, one of repressed glee and merriment.

“I can find your siblings for you.”  Xavier looked up.

“R-really?”

“Oh sure.  Even better, I'll restore your precious little life to it once was.  You and your little friends can even watch the show, free of charge." He held up a finger.  “All it requires is one teensy little wish.”  Xavier, his mind racing with excitement at the thought of his life going back to normal, didn't hesitate.

“I wish things would go back to the way they used to be!”  With that Darkrai snapped his fingers, and Xavier swore he heard a thunderclap in the clear, blue sky.

“Enjoy the show, Mr. Doolittle.”

With the sound of the curtain call, Xavier sprinted home, anxiety welling up in his stomach as he approached his family's house.  He frantically ran up the steps and, upon hearing busy chatter, peeked through the window.

The sitting area, which normally was dark and shabby, was pleasantly lit with lights, emitting a warm and welcoming glow.  Xavier could see his mother standing at the counter, chopping up vegetables for a meal, his father reading the newspaper and Lucy and George sitting on the floor, playing games with their rag dolls and wooden blocks.

It was perfect.  A bit too perfect, actually, as normally his father would be yelling at his mother as his siblings cowered in the corner, but the eevee didn't care.  His entire family was there, safe and sound, looking so happy, blissful and content with their lives.  Xavier, bursting with joy and brilliance, quickly knocked on the door, preparing himself to tearfully embrace his siblings, and his life to be back to what it was before.

However, who opened the door wasn't Lucy, George, his mother or his father.  It was a young eevee, with brilliant blue eyes and a dark fur coat.  He looked at Xavier with curiousity and surprise.

"Hey mum, there's a boy outside that looks just like myself!"  Upon hearing the boy's chipper voice, Xavier's blood turned cold, a rock forming at the pit of the stomach.

He was staring at himself.  Still in shock, his saw his mother walk over and lean on the door frame.

"Dear arceus, you are the spittin' image my son."  She mused as, to Xavier's horror, ruffled the boy's hair as his duplicate giggled.  "I reckon' you two could be twins.  Are you new in the building?"  Xavier stood there, hearing his mother's soft, familiar voice but now cold, and cautious.

"I'm your son."  He whispered, as he continued staring into his mother's eyes, as Lucy and George looked at him, curious glances on their faces.  His mother paused for a second and laughed.

"Oh, well I'm terribly sorry dearie, but Xavier is my son."  She then motioned to the eevee, who nervously clutched his mother's skirt.  "But you're welcome to join us for dinner-"  Xavier pushed his duplicate on the ground and grabbed his mother's dress, sobbing.

"I'M YOUR SON!"  He yelled.  "I'm Xavier!  I'm your true son!"  He could feel his mother trying to push him off, as his siblings started whimpering, but the eevee desperately held on.  "I know you and dad met on a cargo ship when you immigrating to the new world!  I know he didn't have enough for a ring so he gave you one of those ones in a crackerjack box and you said it was as good as the real thing!  I know that Lucy was born with a birth defect when she was younger, and you had to nurse her and take a leave from work, but she recovered!  I know that every day before you leave for work you leave me a handwritten note on my bedside table with the words to...be...safe..."  Xavier trailed off as he saw his mother's face.  It was white, and...frightened.  Terrified, as if she was seeing a monster.

"I don't know who you are or how so much you know about my life."  She whispered as she slowly pushed Xavier away.  "But leave my family alone."  With that she slammed the door.  Xavier stood there for a few seconds, numb, as he watched through the window his siblings help his duplicate up, as his mother comforted his fake tears.

Xavier started crying himself, as he watched his life, the life he had worked so hard to restore, slip away from his grasp.

"You got what you wanted you know."  Xavier turned around to see Darkrai standing next to him.  "Count yourself lucky, normally I would've just restored your life the time to before you were born, made your entire existance fade away."  He let out a sigh, obviously satisfied with his handiwork.  "But truthfully this is far more interesting."  He leaned down next the eevee and put his hand on his head, forcing him to watch the scene play out in the window.  "Look at them, so happy, so content."

"But I'm not happy.  I'm not content."  Darkrai paused for a minute and sighed, standing back up.

"Xavier my boy, you cannot live in the past forever.  You always have to keep moving forward, or else there will be...consequences."  He let out a chuckle.  "And don't even think about going about murdering your duplicate or trying to tamper with their lives."  He mused, as if reading the eevee's mind.  "You don't want to ruin the little good your family has, hm?" Xavier, taking one last look at the window, sighed.

"Where do I go though?  I'm a nobody."  Mr. Dark, upon hearing this, grinned.

"I may have an idea..."

Likes:
Little children, colorful clothing, parties, small feral pokemon, joke books, the company of others, button down shirts, sweets.

Dislikes:
Little children (while he loves them, he also sometimes has a hard time accepting them due to his past), confetti (while he uses it for his shows, it makes a horrid mess afterward), academic novels (they make his brain hurt), cooking (he once set a kitchen on fire), large feral pokemon (they terrify him).

Extras:

-Xavier is roommates with Edward Fern.  Since they both joined around the same time, they have almost become like brothers, and it was actually Xavier’s idea in the first place to leave his trailer empty and have him move in with him to ease some of the pain off his shoulders.

-Xavier still visited his family when they were alive, as Darkrai advised against tampering the past but nothing about observing it.  He watched himself and his siblings grow up, him marry a nice girl he met at his job, start a family of his own.  As painful as it is Xavier still tries to visit his descendants whenever they're in town, as his overwhelming curiosity gets the best of him.

-Xavier became a vaporeon when he saved up enough money to buy a waterstone.  He evolved into one after seeing his other self evolve into a flareon, and, truthfully, Xavier just wanted to be as different from his duplicate as he possibly could.

-Xavier, actually at one point in his life had a girlfriend, a sunflora named Lillian.  The two of them were very much in love, however something happened that made Lillian disappear, and Xavier alone again.  Even Edward, who hung out with her, isn’t entirely sure what happened, as Xavier is hesitant to talk about it.

-Xavier has no sense of direction or the concept of time.  Tell him to meet you at your house and he'll be left wandering the streets for hours.  Ask him to show up to a party at seven and he'll be there at ten-thirty.  This actually is a side-affect of his wish, but the vaporeon has never really made the connection yet.

-Xavier has a bad case of monophobia (fear of being alone) due to a snowball effect of things that happened in his past, hence explains his clingy behavior and need to be within a few feet of a person at all times.

-Xavier is actually very fit, as he took up karate as a hobby to get closer to Edward.  Because of this he is crazy good at martial arts and self-defense in general, which can come to as a shock when the cheery vaporeon you were talking to a few seconds ago suddenly dodges a bullet with lighting-fast reflexes.

-He is extremely clingy to his girlfriend, and you’ll rarely see one of them without the other at this point.

I love everything about this character! And his wish and backfire are perfect! And that face! I'm speechless! Even the Magic God from Teen Titans Go would top his magic hat for him! That's a compliment by the way.
Bottom line: he's a fine fellow and I'm glad he's in, having a good time.
