Guess who maratoned Dangan Rompa: The Animation? *points* THIS CHICK RIGHT HERE.

While I really can’t recommended it to EVERYONE (the content can be very disturbing, it’s definitely for a mature, older-teen audience) I like it. The murder mysteries are written surprisingly well and it does a great job of introducing its really big cast as you slowly grow attached to the characters…only to see them promptly killed off. It can be very difficult to watch sometimes as you see these otherwise good-hearted kids slowly grow insane, but if you can sit through it it’s a great horror/mystery anime. Still, keep this far far away from your younger siblings, though.

So when I heard there was a group for it I was super excited. If the mods can somehow pull the murder trials thing off it’s going to be a blast to watch. I normally stay away from the chats but I think I’ll actually join in on the trials, since they’re so entertaining. I’m not really going to be doing any of the solving though, I suck at solving mysteries.

I decided to draw Caspian in the style of Dangan Rompa so his eyes/coloring might look a bit different than mine. *shrugs* It’s all in good fun.

Name: Caspian Walsh
Nicknames: That annoying mermaid, Flippy (he’ll slap you across the face if you even mutter the “Fli” syllable).
Sexuality: Straight
Age: 17
Height: 6’1"
Weight: 140 lbs
Gender: All male.
DOB: February 1st

SHSL: Mermaid MERMAN. He will correct you endlessly if you call him by the “girly” term.

In his mermaidman job he’s basically a model/super swimmer/singer. He poses as a mermaid in his tourist town, sitting on rocks in his tail and singing to passing people. He can hold his breath for up to five minutes and he takes it pretty dang seriously.
However he has a bit of a complex over it, for he feels it’s "too girly" (for obvious reasons) and, while he really loves it, tries he best not to let people know it’s him.

Ethnicity/Race: Irish
Extra Features: His glasses (when he’s a mermaidman he wears contacts). His shell necklace and bracelet from his mother.
Weapon: Nothing…yet. Although he was in a short-lived venture as a batter on a little league team so he’s comfortable with a bat.

Personality:

Serious/Careful - Caspian keeps a very cold attitude about him. While his appearance isn’t off-putting he is intimidating, for he rarely says anything unless he feels it should be addressed. Some may take this as a form of snobbery or shyness but Caspian just feels that those who blab constantly are just wasting their breath. In school trials he’d tend to stay silent, listening to all the evidence sink in before he considers chiming in his two cents.

Stubborn – When Caspian puts his mind to something, god darn it it’s going to stay that way. His mother practically had to take him kicking and screaming to Hopes Peak Academy.

Egotistical -Caspian takes great pride (and seriousness) in his mermaidman abilities. Even if someone cracks a joke at his expense he gets all defensive about it, going on and about how it’s a legit and serious job, and challenge them to hold their breath underwater for five minutes. (Not before denying it for several minutes).

Careful -Just to make sure that the above thing doesn’t happen Caspian is very careful to hide any traces of his mermaidman-ing. He knows just where to stash his tails, what evidence to clean up and what to say to just look like he was in the computer lab instead of somewhere else. (Who knows, his pristine ability to cover up things may come in handy in the future ohohohohohohoh-).

Good listener -Since Caspian doesn’t like talking he is a very good listener. He always tries his best to give the speaker his full attention, in case of missing something important. (Once again, this little skill may come in handy later…)

Loyal -While Caspian doesn’t always get along with his mother he does love her and can’t really imagine being away from her sphere of influence for too long. (Which could end up being a very very bad thing…)

Likes:
~THE WATER
~Singing
~Swimming in the water
~Japanese food (he has developed a fondness for udon and curry)
~Diving underwater
~Reading books
~Collecting seashells on the beach and underwater

~Heck, the water in general.

~Super bubbly, overly-excited extroverts
~You can tell he really likes his daily dose of liquid

Additional Info:
-He is a very good liar, with things that don’t pertain to his mermaid-ing. If you even suggest that he was doing said activity all of his seriousness and credibility goes out the window, replaced with his panic and fear.
-He’s a self-taught singer. He has an operatic tenor voice, and can reach really high notes.
-He has a very thick Irish accent.

History/Family: Caspian Walsh was born in a small sea-faring town in North Ireland. His parents split up at an early age due to…disagreements so Caspian was raised by his mother.

Ever since a young age the boy was fascinated by the ocean. He’d stare at it for hours, looking at the murky darkness, wondering what laid below in the depth, only being limited by his extensive imagination.

When he mother started reading Irish folklore to him that was when Caspian’s imagination really went a whim. As he read about mermaids and selkies, humans could live and breathe under the deep, he was captivated. He proudly explained to his mother that he wanted to be a mermaid too, to which his mother smiled, gave him a pat on the head and said “That’s nice dear”.

But Caspian didn’t give up. He convinced a family friend of theirs who lived down the street to teach him the art of free diving. For many years the two of them practiced breathing exercises, making Caspian lungs larger and larger until he was able to swim underwater for over five minutes.

In the meantime Caspian looked on the internet and, to his shock, found that being a mermaid was actually a profession, where people swam underwater in fabric tails for people’s amusement. Caspian proceeded to save up his allowance and buy his first tail online, a beautiful blue one with white embroidery and pearls. As he dove with it under the water it was if all of his childhood fantasies had come to life. Under the water, in his tail, he felt a new sense of calmness and serenity, as if his whole life had been waiting for that moment.

So, early in the morning Caspian would go outside and swim in the waves. Sometimes, even the early mornings, he’d even sing Irish folksongs in his tenor voice to get the mood of things. However, a tall preteen with a fabric tail wasn’t going to go unnoticed, however. Rumors started going around their town of a beautiful merman who’d sit early in the morning on rocks singing. Soon more and more people started coming outside to watch Caspian, which, while it made the boy self-conscious at first, he proudly flaunted his tail and newfound mermaid-ing abilities.

That didn’t last long, however. At school it didn’t take his classmates long to put two and two together and found out he was the merman that everyone was talking about, and endlessly bullied him about it. While Caspian tried to stand up for his passion he found it very hard to do so as his classmates pointed out more and more problems with his job profession and soon Caspian resolve to himself to stop doing his silly, girly pastime all together. However he couldn’t stay away from the lure of the water for long, and still snuck out in the super early mornings to swim, however doing it in a secluded cove so no one would notice.

It was when he was in his senior year of high school that his mother told him that she had sent a video she had gotten to a school and Japan and they were more than happy to accept him. Caspian took this news with horror, as he did not want to be given a scholarship based on a hobby he didn’t want to see the light of day. His mother, convinced that this was the best for her son, dragged him to Japan and practically threw him on the school’s campus. Where, once his mother was out of sight, where he promptly hit in the back of the head and blacked out…

RP Sample:
“A new academy?” Caspian said over a mouthful of his mother’s fluffy, delectable French toast in his mouth. “My school is perfectly fine. What is so special about this school?”

“Oh honey, it’s a school for extremely talented individuals such as yourself.” She smiled as she absent-mindedly cleaned a plate and threw it into the dishwasher. “I sent them a video of you doing your little hobby and they are willing to capitalize on it…they’ll give you the resources and everything…perhaps they’ll even give you a few new tails.”

Caspian spit the French toast out of his mouth.

“You TOLD them?” He screamed as he jumped up from the table, knocking his cup of orange juice over. “But-I-you-I-this-“ He gave his mother a spiteful glare. “I thought I told you to keep my little “hobby” a secret.”

“But dear, Hopes Peak Academy is the best of the best. They have five floors of recreational rooms, there are tons of testimonies (although a lot of them are anonymous…), the principal is widely respected, and it’s in Japan! You’ve always wanted to go to Japan, right?“ None of this seemed to get through to Caspian, as he continued to stare at his mother in numb shock.

“Y-you told them…” While Caspian liked his mermaid side job (okay, that was a bit of an understatement, he was obsessed with it) he knew that if any of his friends or the world (outside of their tourist town) would find out he’d never be able to live it down. He had told his mother this several times already but, just like her “I want what’s best for my widdle smoochie-poo” attitude of course she would go blab about it. The teen slowly pushed his chair in and headed toward the stairs.

“Aren’t you going to finish your French toast?” Caspian’s mother asked as she looked at her son with a pang of concern on her face.

“I’m not hungry.” He grumbled as he walked up the steps, running his hand in his orange hair. The French toast tasted like cardboard to him now.
